Background and Customer Needs
To enhance safety, compliance, and operational control, the customer required a real-time positioning system capable of:
• Continuous indoor and outdoor personnel tracking
• Faster emergency response and evacuation support
• Automated access control in restricted areas
This initiative laid the foundation for a smarter, safer, and more responsive industrial environment.
Challenges
The project involved several critical challenges that shaped the overall system design and deployment approach:
• Extreme environmental conditions: The site experiences drastic temperature swings, with surface heat reaching over 75°C in summer and dropping below –30°C in winter. All equipment had to meet stringent durability and thermal resistance standards to ensure continuous, stable operation.
• Complex physical structures: Dense steel frameworks and extensive signal obstructions created a highly challenging electromagnetic environment. The positioning system needed to maintain signal integrity and precision across structurally complicated indoor and outdoor spaces.
• 24/7 continuous operations: The site runs on a non-stop production schedule, allowing limited time windows for installation. System deployment had to be rapid, non-invasive, and minimally disruptive to daily operations.

Solution

Key highlights:
• UWB in high-risk zones for high-precision tracking
• Bluetooth in general indoor areas for efficient zone-level positioning
• GPS/BeiDou outdoors for full-site coverage
• Over 4,500 wireless anchors deployed — no power or network cabling required
• Seamless zone handover and 4G backhaul ensure real-time, uninterrupted data flow
The entire system was deployed without rewiring or on-site calibration, enabling fast rollout, minimal disruption, and long-term scalability.
Benefits and Customer Value

The system has operated continuously and reliably for nearly a year, validating its long-term stability under real-world industrial conditions.

Its demonstrated performance in large-scale, high-risk, and structurally complex environments confirms both the engineering maturity and replicability of the solution.
Customer Feedback
The customer expressed strong satisfaction with the project’s performance and outcomes. Based on the successful deployment and operational results, a second-phase rollout has been approved to extend system coverage across remaining areas of the site. The expansion aims to further strengthen site-wide personnel safety management and reinforce the company’s digital transformation efforts.
