POCSTARS Participates in the 5th FRMCS Plugtests in Paris, Receives ETSI Certificate of Participation
Paris, France, November 2025 , POCSTARS participated in the 5th Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) Plugtests held in Paris, and received an ETSI Certificate of Participation.
Organised by ETSI, hosted by the International Union of Railways (UIC), and supported by TCCA, the Plugtests brought together around 45 vendors and more than 100 technical experts worldwide to validate FRMCS applications and multi vendor interoperability over 5G networks.
During the event, POCSTARS joined key test streams including FRMCS over 5G and Interconnection and Migration. Testing covered MCX services, dispatch functions, terminal communications, and cross system integration. Through multi vendor joint testing, POCSTARS verified interoperability performance across core scenarios, supporting further alignment with FRMCS and MCX related standards and ecosystem requirements.
FRMCS is widely recognised as the next generation railway communications framework, built on 5G and MCX (Mission Critical Services) standards, and regarded as the evolution path beyond GSM R. It is designed to support operational communications for railway dispatch, safety workflows, and broadband services, and to enable continued digital transformation across rail networks.
FRMCS Plugtests is one of the industry’s most established interoperability verification programmes, providing a practical environment to validate standards based compatibility across platforms, devices, and systems. This edition also included validation work related to test tools, helping strengthen consistency and repeatability for future interoperability activities.
POCSTARS will continue to participate in international interoperability programmes and collaborate with operators, system integrators, and ecosystem partners, supporting standardisation and interoperability progress for MCX and FRMCS related technologies.
